Ambisonics

Postby per » Tue Dec 15, 2009 16:21

Hi folks!

I have been experimenting a bit with an ambisonics mic from Core Sound, called Tetra Mic. With it follows some software and especially a VST plug-in to decode the signals. Now, unfortunately, this plug-in makes Pyramix crash (6.1.7 MR1). When I check the plug-in with the VST Scanner it looks OK except that I get a warning saying (exactly): VSTMAN_SetSkeakerArrangement : plug-in does not have speaker arrangement

Does anyone know what this means?
I would also like to know if there's anyone out there who has successfully tested any VST plug-ins for decoding B-format (4-ch) sound files in Pyramix?

Thanks everyone

hi,

I just red you now, maybe you've already found a solution!
I use ambisonics recording for many years now, i use them with pyramix, when VST was ready.
I use surround zone from soundfield, but for the core sound you shoul use the A format decoder. SPS 200 software.
To solve your problem, do you try different GPS solution? Look at the number of OUTPUT of your plug, you could see that in the vst scanner.
Then try to insert your plug in such a GPS track.

Good luck, and welcomein true surround sound ;-)

Hello Gael,

I am just starting with Ambiosonics - I have access to one of the Tetra Mics, which I plan to use to make some tests then I will get a Soundfield. Do you have any problems with the Soundfield VST software in Pyramix?

Many thanks

Larry

Hi, sorry for late answer.
I haven't worked with this for a while, but I will do some tests again as soon as there is time.
A strange thing though, that my VST plug-ins work perfectly in PMX Native, but crashes PMX Masscore. Same version.

I'll get back to this.

hi,

No problem with soundfield "surround zone" neither with SPS200 dedicated software!
I run 8 of them in my session they are all running with automation...perfect!
If you are into ambisonics i suggest you go and see that www.surround-library.com
i'm a part of that team.
