I'm concerned by momentary "freezes" that are occuring during playbacks in PMX V5. I'm using *exactly* the same system that has been performing quite normally throughout my beta test of V5 over the last couple months. However, in my latest projects under the release version, PMX simply freezes--playback ceases and the meters drop--for 3-5 seconds before graphical activity and playback resume. This is happening as often as every 3-5 minutes. In this session, I'm not taxing the system too hard (I think!): 8 tracks of 24/44.1 PMF files played back through a stereo mix bus. Incidentally, the audio all recorded just fine, with some continuous 8-track takes as long as 8 minutes.
My config is a Toshiba Satellite M30 laptop (2.8 GHz P4, 512 MB RAM (low, I know, but everything's been fine so far!) with a MOTU 828 mkII via the native/MOTU firewire driver. Audio is on a recently de-fragged FW HDD with approx. 25% free space.
The typical "Playback engine stall" alerts are NOT appearing with this problem; I do have the pref set to display such alerts.
I'd welcome any insights or advice (Pierre?!)
Thanks in advance!
Michael

Hello Michael,
I have not seen such long holds of Pyramix here when working with ASIO, however:
We have recently found a nice way of improving ASIO drivers performances and Motu Traveller unit has been tested here with 8 tracks at 4FS, 16 tracks at 2FS and 24 tracks at 1FS with a very solid record and playback behavior.
On a machine slightly more powerful than yours though! But I think you will benefit vastly from this improvement, that will be part of forthcoming SP1 of PMX5 and should also improve behavior of many different ASIO units.
SP1 should be out very soon, I hope this information will help.
Kind regards
