main Fader Automation curve

Postby Ravilious » Sat Mar 30, 2024 14:37

Hi

I need to do a slow linear level transition over the Duration of a forty minute track using Automation on the main output bus.

The perfect solution would be to draw a long automation curve across the duration of the project. The problem is while groups and output can be automated there seem no way for me to get a visual representation in the time line to do this.

Can anyone suggest a practical solution short of playing back and slowly lowering the main output.

Thanks a lot

Stephen

You can display the Mixer Bus Automation on any Track. Take a look in the Manual around page 440 or so, depending on your version. Do a search for "Select Displayed Automation Track" for more information about how to set this up.

The terminology can be a little confusing in that you have Mix Busses which carry audio, and Automation Busses which carry automation data. The manual doesn't always specify which one it's referring to, so you have to be aware of this and make sure you're reading about what you want to be reading about.

You might also be able to do what you want by assigning the Mix Bus to a VCA, and then automate the VCA strip once it's installed in your mixer. I've never done this, so ymmv.
