RME Fireface 800 Timecode option?

Postby fl » Mon Jun 28, 2010 17:59

Are there any Native users out there, using an RME Fireface for their interface, which has the RME Timecode option board installed? Does this work with Pryamix? Sending? Receiving?

I'm involved with a performing group who will be making a video for a recording we made last year, and I'm wondering about my ability to use my system for playback during the shoot, also providing timecode to the camera(s).

I did ask the Sonotechnique Product Specialist, who told me that the Fireface TCO will not work with Pyramix, but that there is a small USB device which will. Sorry, I'm sketchy about the details, but I believe it is a Merging Technologies device.

Well, if the device will generate MTC then Virtual transport can use it as a master. We use a Nanosyncs HD as a MTC timecode generator and run our Native and Hardware PMX synced to to it via Virtual Transport. There are lots of SMPTE to MTC converters on the market and they all should work.
I've run over midnight tests using the MTC as master and PMX slaves fine.
Also, the PMX can generate timecode and output it to the MTC via VT. It just can't seem to do both at the same time with different codes or offsets. (or I haven't figured out the trick yet...)
All the best,
