Mixer re-design. Hate having keep selecting which bus to pan on Euphonix!
Better time stretch and flex tools (prosoniq is past its prime)

Re: Pyramix 8 - What do You Need More?
1 (by far) - clip based FX. Drag and drop presets (eg a HPF 50hz roll off) onto a clip, a la Avid's video editors.
2 - Stop media manager "holding on" to clips - things go awry since v7 if you need to process some audio elsewhere, and it's a major pain!
3 - Better implementation of subgroups, allowing for normal panning etc.
(I'm not including 64 bit support for Native cos I know 7.1 is already in beta).
EDIT - 4 hours later, and 7.1 is released! Will be trying it out in the next coupla days in 64 bit.

Lucky! Hope Masscore will be suported too soon and not only with Horus/Ravenna enabled products. Masscore users spent a buck on Myk cards and we don´t want to throw it out of the window for now!

How about the choice of MD5 checksums in Discwrite?

Yes, say goodbye to your precious Mykerinos or stay in the past (32 bit).

Hi to all.
1) I'd like it if Pyramix had a simple midi track in order to send midi program changes to outboard effect units
2) A bigger BARS/BEATS indicator
3) Change tracks order straight from the timeline.

1-A MIDI sequencer is clearly one of the missing parts in Pyramix
2-I did suggest a year or more ago to Merging, to have the Bars & Beats also displayed in the TC window one of the apps in VT. You could then enlarge it at a bigger size.
3-I did suggest that countless times in the forum. I guess Pyramix is the only DAW where you can´t do that, unless you go into the the Tracks tab. The same about the Mixer, the configuration window for swapping strips is a waste of time too IMO.
I hope that these things are adressed in V8, at least the last two, but to be honest I don´t believe it will happen anytime soon. I hope I´m wrong.

Re: Pyramix 8 - What do You Need More?
Pualo - I think the decision was taken some time ago to not have Pyramix handle midi and it's the right one. It would involve an enormous amount of development, and it would still really struggle to stay up with the well-established competition. I think Pyramix should concentrate resources on bug fixing the current version's 64 bit problems (EuCon, basic video codec support), and then enhance its core audio and mixer features such as clip-based fx and much improved implementation of subgroups.

The fact that Pyramix does not have or will not have MIDI capabilities means that it will never be one of the market leaders in modern music production and recording. I, as a user, deeply regret that. The only field that I don´t see a use for MIDI sequencing is in mastering and pure broadcast, all others like music production and post would clearly benefit from that option IMO.
As a curiosity, pay attention to other manufacturers specs when it comes to the list of supported DAW´s for their products: you hardly see Pyramix listed in any of them. Another is the list of user DAW´s in manufacturers or specialized press questionaires: in most of them Pyramix is not listed either, it will come in the "Others" field of course.
But well, It´s not my company, so I´m nobody to tell what they should or not be doing, although I have an opinion.
Regarding the other issues you mention, I agree 100%

Re: Pyramix 8 - What do You Need More?
In an ideal world I'd agree 100%. But Merging isn't a huge company, and resources are finite. Doing midi WELL is a gargantuan task, and you're up against huge companies that have been doing it for years and moving into markets that Pyramix currently doesn't touch. Personally I'd love it if Pyramix handled midi - I'm a composer as well as a dubbing mixer - but I think it's beyond what is realistic. I'd love to be proved wrong, though!

Hi,
It' a very complex and delicate subject, you can go to :http://forum.merging.com/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=8102
I understand wath you say, but, because I LIKE to work with Pyramix, I would not see Pyramix disappear because of functions that exists in the most popular DAWs.

Of course not, but even a simple introductory option for MIDI sequencing with VSTi support would be nice to have and keep all the strong points that we as Pyramix users already have. Then it´s a matter of time to evolve from simple introduction of MIDI capabilities to a full development. I see that as a paid option of course. A complementary software package.Something similar to the Nuendo NEK.
