Hi,
I tried to convert an AIFF file (16 bits, stereo interleaved) from 44.1 to 48 kHz using "Samplerate Converter", available via rightclick menu in the Media Management. When I´m using the current 6.1.6 version (build 750), the audio output contains some heavy dropouts, and there are also some spots where left and right channel seem to have an offset. In short, the output is unusable. I had no chance yet to try the same with a PMF or a WAV file, but anyway this bug did not exist in version 6.1.3 RC1 (which I also tried on another system). It seems that this is a new bug in 6.1.6...
Any similar experience from other users, or any comment from Merging?
Thanks in advance
Daniel

Re: Samplerate Converter: Errors in audio output (version 6.1.6)
Hi Daniel,
I had similar problems in build 745. In 750 I used quick export once successfully but not with AIFF IIRC. Occasional troubles in handling AIFF files playback (erratic spontaneous offset between channels etc.) and DSP have been with Pyramix as long as I can think of...
How long/big is the file? (I had these problems mostly with longer files...)
The maintenance release Merging is working on at the moment should solve these bugs of the original release, hopefully.
Bis Sonntag...
Cheers
Bernhard

Re: Samplerate Converter: Errors in audio output (version 6.1.6)
Bernhard,
the file has a duration of approx. 3 minutes, so not really big (about 30 MBytes).
In order to check if the problems also occur when using non-AIFF formats, I converted the 44.1 AIFF file to WAV (no problems) and then converted this 44.1 WAV to a 48 kHz WAV. Same issues as in the AIFF, the output contains several errors.
(I´m wondering how a serious bug like this can make it into an official release without being found in the debugging stage... :-/)

We have ironed out sooo may bugs and inconsistencies and we didn't agree at all on this release, but hey, we are only betatesters, so why listen to us?Oma wrote:I´m wondering how a serious bug like this can make it into an official release without being found in the debugging stage... :-/)

Re: Samplerate Converter: Errors in audio output (version 6.1.6)
Hi Daniel,
We gave it a try in our latest builds, but could not reproduce such issue. Did generate a long Aiff/16bit/44.1kHz tone, did convert from 44.1kHz to 48kHz with "Samplerate Converter". Did verify the result with phase cancellation... All ok, perfect and no dropouts.
Could you send me the buggy file (or just a drop out region section) so that we can analyze it? How long was your original one?

Thanks,
Ricardo
