Mixer Preset States - more easily accessed, please

Postby fl » Tue Jul 03, 2012 20:30

It would be nice to have the ability to quickly changing mixes during live shows, etc. Currently, the "Left Click on Mixer > Memory > Presets > Recall Mixer State" function does what I want, but it's awkward and finicky to access, especially under the pressure of a live event (shaky mouse hand). It would be really nice if these states could be dragged and dropped to and from a Library, or even better, make the Mixer's pop-up menu available to be used in the creation of a Macro.

Just to clarify, you can drag Mixer Presets to and from a Library, but restoring them to the mixer involves the total rebuild, and cannot take place when either recording or playing. Recalling the Mixer State can be done during recording or playback, and there is no rebuild or click or other interruption to the audio, which is preferable.

Having the ability to quickly access a set of different mixer states would be very handy for any given project, so maybe it would be a good idea to have these States savable on a per project basis, rather than the current situation where there is a choice between saving a preset for the current user, or all users, for all time. Having a set of mixer states saved just for a particular project would be very useful in situations where Pyramix is both recording and mixing for some downstream use like a video capture or web stream.

My ideal situation would be to have the ability to create a macro that will capture the current mixer state, placing it in a library or floating window that can be available during a live event. Then, it would be a simple matter to drag and drop a mixer state onto the mixer while recording, to quickly establish an alternative mix or scene, while at the same time not interrupting the recording.

Going back to the way it used to be would be great.

ie: when dragging a mixer snapshot from the library holding nothing just sets the snapshot without interrupting playback etc..., and holding control while doing it forces a mixer rebuild when necessary because of plugin changes, strip changes, etc...

Exactly...an immensely useful and sensible feature that needs to be re-instated. V8 release would be nice...

Yes please. Working with mixer snapshots during playback/record must come back. Very much missed.

And while we are at it two small improvements:

1.) make the transition to a new snapshot smooth, not jumpy, fade continuous values (e.g. fader gain, aux gains, pan etc. etc.) over, xover time 1s or 2s?.
2.) add a snapshot contextual submenu on the right side of the mixer for 'store to library', 'recall'... give us a list of the snapshots than can be sorted and edited. Give us shortcuts for mouse free operation of snapshots, at least <recall next snap>, <recall current snap>, <recall previous snap>, <store new snap to library> and <update current snap>.

Cheers - B.
