Publishing is great!

Postby per » Mon Oct 17, 2011 13:04

The publishing feature included in 7.1 is absolutely fabulous! I can now produce an iTune folder directly from Pyramix with all the relevant information and this has improved my workflow tremendously.

I'm just missing one small detail:
It would be helpful to be able to set options and directories separately for the different formats. I would e.g like my AAC files and my MP3 files to go to their corresponding directories as well as the wav files, the latter perhaps also with more informative file name (sampling rate...). As it is now, all files will have the same name and will go to the same directory.

Perfection is close...!
:)

Publishing doesn't create a pmi, but it will produce a large mtff file containing all your project's contents, so it's just as large as a pmi and takes as long to create. It then goes on to create the various output files from the mtff.

+1 for configurable folders and file naming on a per-format basis.

Also, now that it's open source, could Apple Lossless be added to the available output formats, please?

what I meant is if there is a way to make a new publish of a project without actually having to generate the pmi as well and therefore save some time

You can "Publish" to output files in DiscWrite from a generated PMI - which is what you've been doing, I'm guessing.

You can also Publish right in Pyramix, in the "Generate CD Image/SACD Edited Master" window. Instructions on page 491 of the manual.

While doing this will not generate a PMI image, no time is saved since it still has to create the MTFF file, from which it generates the output files.
