Clip editor

Postby Adrian » Mon May 24, 2004 14:40

I know you can set up PMX with xtra tracks to work as a clip editor but the pain is that if you locate your position on the main time line and then start editing the sound you want to put there your cursor moves. So please a seperate independant clip editor to top and tail etc. :)

Hi Adrian,

I fully agree with your request for a clip editor. However, your cursor woes can be fixed by employing the 'Macro Tools' functions "Store Cursor Memory X" and "Recall Cursor Memory X" before and after the quasi-clip-editor operations.

Best,

Graemme

Hello,

Even easier, create a track group for all you non trim editor group, enable keep cursor and disable all the other ones (track mute/solo etc) so that each track reacts individually while beeing in a track group.

Cheers

Well, it would be even easier, if "Keep Cursor" actually worked...

The cursors should be completely separated, in my opinion.

Best,

Graemme

Ok,

So explain how the cursors remain completely independent (as in "don't move") while I'm moving the cursor in another group?

4.2.9 is no different than earlier versions.

I must be missing something obvious...

Best,

Graemme

Hi Graemme,

The cursor moves indeed in all the groups when you move it in one group and all the groups have keep cursor switched on.
But when you click back to another group, the play cursor jumps back to its earlier position.

Ahhh!

Got it! It was that they moved at all that through me off.

Many Thanks Maurice!

Clip edit window

Postby tim lofts » Wed Aug 04, 2004 12:51

If I understand this correctly, and what I'd like to have, is a seperate clip edit window enabling me to edit clips that are not on the time line, so I can edit without having to mute or solo tracks, or edit further down the time line

I agree the AudioVision style clip editor was great. What would be even better is if Merging could incorporate this with the Media Manager so when you select a clip to audition, its waveform display comes up and you can select the part you want to place in the timeline.

This was my original request when first viewing Pyramix earlier this year. Currently I end up dragging clips on to a track (to see all of it) and then working on them. Not ideal, especially when you end up dropping it over other clips you can't see and accidentally deleting them!
