The dreaded BM - we have such difficulty with this!
I would love to see this added to the Monitoring Panel (or possibly as a plugin...or both!). We need:
* high-pass filters on main channels with fully-variable freq. points and a choice of 'steepness'
* low-pass filter on the LFE with same flexibility - also should have a 'brick-wall' type filter curve to emulate encoding (Dolby etc)
* Full Phase adjustment / delay on each channel (not polarity). It would be nice if this could be in degrees not in samples so PMX would handle the math depending on sample rate instead of us poor schmucks.
All of the above should be saveable and recallable as templates so we could create a mix without BM (or with very low filter points) and then quickly switch to a typical consumer arangement with higher filter points and a brick-wall on the LFE to make sure it translates.
Anything I'm missing?
As they say - BM every day for a healthy surround mix....am I going to be banned from the forum for this one?...

If it weren't for the fact that you're an otherwise fine human being (and you bought dinner last time), I'd ban your poorly-managed *ss in a heartbeat... ;->

Phew! So that's what wine gets you...
In all seriousness - How about configurable Bass management within PMX? It seems that some of this really can only be done well in the digital domain (phase adjustment /delay...) - makes sense to have it at the last step in the DAW.
It would set PMX above the competition as a pro DAW surround solution.

Re: Bass Management
Any plans for this in 2018?
I am using 3:rd party plugin on a master bus, but it would make much more sense to have it in the monitoring section. And a lot more convenient too.

Re: Bass Management
Bass management is a playback specific issue, not a production issue per se. Bass management should be dealt with in the playback chain. All bass managed systems are compromised by definition.ljudatervinning wrote:Any plans for this in 2018?

Every implementation is different and doing it in the production environment is purely guesswork.
As always, YMMV.
All the best,

Re: Bass Management
I agree that Bass management is part of the playback system. As I see it, the monitoring panel in Pyramix is part of the playback system. There is already time delay, routing and level implemented. Addition with filter would be a natural next step.
With the advent of NHK and other multichannel formats, and the focus on future multichannel formats at Merging, it would make perfect sense to implement it in Pyramix. Ideally it would be implemented in Horus and HAPI, with an optional DSP-card (if resources are limited). But as per channel trim levels are not implemented in the hardware units, and requests has been directed to the software solution in the monitoring section, this would be the natural choice.
As far as I know, there is noting like Yamaha MMP-1 or DAD Pro mon (with bass management) for Ravenna.
