Exporting dithered files

Postby Perfect Record » Thu May 02, 2013 21:17

I work with 32bit PMF files whenever I can, but often I need to export them.

In Media Manager, I can do a quick export to WAV or AIFF as split tracks, but that gives me a 32 bit file. I can then use Quick Convert ->Wordlength Converter to dither down to 16 or 24 bits.

This makes 2 sets of files, one of which I don't really need. The other big problem is that Wordlength Converter always seems to add a UID, with no option to turn it off. This makes a multichannel file unusable outside of Pyramix, unless I edit out the UID on every file.

It would be great if there was a simple option to file split and dither in one step, and NO UID.

This is not a fix but until one appears, this little utility can make the process a little easier:

You can program a batch preset to remove the Pyramix unique identifier string in the file names of any number of Pyramix exports.

Thanks Frank,

I'd of course love to have a comprehensive export that handles file split, SRC and Dither, and delivers user friendly files that other apps can work with.

Most of the time exported files are moving directly from Pyramix to my Mac where I do a lot of re naming using Applescript.
