Fader sensitivity with mouse

Postby Davey » Tue Apr 27, 2010 00:15

I'm wondering whether there has been a discussion about getting the faders on the mixer to be finer in their sensitivity when using a mouse. Right now it seems that 0.3 dB is the smallest increment when using the mouse to move a fader. For me it would be great to have this be more sensitive, say 0.1 increments instead of 0.3. I'm wondering whether others feel that this would be an important improvement. For those of us who sometimes need to do an automated mix without a controller this would be significant.

You can get finer control of a fader by using the up/down arrow keys, after you've clicked on the desired fader. This will increase/decrease the fader level by 0.1 dB. I agree that adding finer control, just as is now available for the pan controls (by holding down the Shift key prior to clicking and moving the mouse cursor on a fader), would be a good idea.

Once you're done, you must remember to either click on the title bar of the main edit window, or use the View Menu > Set Focus to the Timeline" command, to re-establish your keyboards normal control over the main window contents, or else, you'll still be entering commands for the mixer.

Thanks, Frank. I knew about using the arrows and this is a good suggestion. But for the kind of mixing I want to do I need to be able to control the speed of the fader move so the arrows, although they are finer, are not very good. Like you, I hope at some point this will be possible. It would be a very welcome improvement in my opinion.
