Not as out of date as I thought...

Postby Perfect Record » Sat Feb 19, 2011 18:38

Usually I feel so completely behind the times because I'm still working on version 5.3, but I just found this on the Abbey Road site:

"
Technical Specification

Pyramix software options: sampling frequency 64 to 192 kHZ, surround sound mixing, video/TC synchronization
Sony P2 Protocol Machine Control/ Sony P2 Remote Control
All digital formats: CDR/DDP/SACD/ DSD support
Pro Tools 5.0/Sonic Solutions Interchange / Algorithmix DeNoiser + DeScratcher
Lexicon 300 reverb/Prism Dream SNS/ Genesis DAC 2406 (24 bit 6 way D to A)
B&W Nautilus 802 monitoring driven by Chord SPA1232’s/B&W ASW 2000 Sub

Of course I'm sure they're as up to date as possible, but I'm laughing at what the website shows. It's a fairly cool, and comprehensive website, aside from that one little lapse.

Hey, that´s quite an achievement :) I start using Pyramix in V5 and to be honest, despite being stable, the new features implemented along the way to V7 made be happy, so I would certainly miss them if going back.

Well there's nothing between me and version 7 that an improved business environment wouldn't fix.

I guess that depends on your type of business and requirements. It´s not imperative to update just for the sake of it, if a determined version covers one´s needs. I expressed my opinion based on my personnal needs and based on that, I´m quite happy with the improvements introduced since V5 until today, although I think there is still issues to be dealt with.

There are a couple of limited applications that make 4.1 a better tool than later versions, particularly in music live recording environments. For instance
-applying mixer snapshots instantaneously and during playback/recording without rebuilds
-non-destructive solo bus by default
-low Mykerinos DSP requirements (without Masscore)
