Mini ITX MB and energy efficient i5?

Postby maikol » Wed May 08, 2013 12:15

Hello,

I was wondering if someone was using a mini ITX MB like this one : http://www.intel.eu/content/www/eu/en/motherboards/desktop-motherboards/desktop-board-dh61dl.html for Pyramix ?

As this would allow to build a very small and power efficient computer while still having an 1155 processor socket and a PCIe slot, could it be used to build a masscore/horus system maybe?

I'm also wondering if masscore could be powered by one of the energy efficient Core-i5 ? I guess that these would not be usable, as they are usually only dual cores and not quad?

But what about the T series, like this one: http://ark.intel.com/products/65521/Intel-Core-i5-3570T-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_30-GHz. That's a quad core with a TDP of only 45W.

Thanks, and all the best,

Michael

Hey Michael: I built a very small computer with this mobo, http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8Z77I_DELUXEWD/#overview. I used this case, http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=276&area=en. There is an i5, SSD system drive, 2 tb media drive and slim DVD/CD writer. I'm running MassCore with the Merging NIC with no problems. Just make sure you don't install the broothtooth or wifi.

It is somewhat quiet. There is a, I think, 100mm fan in the case. You could replace it with an ultra quiet fan. There are some other options around. I know Mark Donahue is building ultra small passive computers.
