Hi all,
I have an old Pyramix turnkey system that now needs a new motherboard (capacitor problem) and so am looking to upgrade to something with PCI support and match closer to the then current Pyramix 9 turnkey spec.
But how many PCI slots can I actually use anyway?
The system I have currently has 2x MB5 with MADI-2 plus AES. However, with the converters I've since accumulated for cheap with MADI : Genex Stage I/O, Genex 9048, Sphynx 2 - I'm thinking I could perhaps go 2 MADI-2 .
Is Pyramix 8/9 able to cope with 2 x MADI-2 cards? Can PCI busses cope with 2 x MADI-2 cards?
Do I even need more than one MADI card, or can I chain converters all together - what kind of channel count can I get with that at what sample rates? DSD64 possible? Only my Sphynx 2 has DXD capability... Genex are 192k/DSD64
Can anyone shed any light on all these questions? Otherwise I guess I will have to spend time/money experimenting with it all.
Configuring an old system - How many Myk MADI cards can I run?
