DSD output over Mykerinos AES/EBU - 4 links mandatory?

Is the only way available to get stereo DSD stream out of Mykerinos AES/EBU DSD daughter card is DSD over PCM 16 bit 44.1kS/s samples packed into 4 AES/EBU links?
Thanks,
Dmitry

This uses Sony and/or Philips protocols that will only work with professional converters such as dCS and Genex. It is not compatible with the modern consumer 'DoP' standard.

Using the Mykerinos with the AES/DSD daughtercard under ASIO for DSD playback purposes is going to be a challenge, if not impossible.

Thanks, for Your reply, Graemme!
However, in Pyramix Settings (I guess, in Ovation & Emotion also), under MassCore one can choose either professional or consumer AES3 output format
As for DSD Mapping there is an option, either Sony or P3D format. If you choose P3D than in the DSD routing tab instead of 4 links you'll see XLR 1-3.
Are there any datasheets on P3D or Sony DSD formats available open source?

Pro or Consumer AES output choice has nothing to do with what you're asking. The Sony and Philips 'DSD over AES' standards may be available somewhere online but they aren't 'Open Source'.

I notice that Dominique replied to you about Emotion and AoIP...

So, I'll be a little less diplomatic: I think you are wasting your time, as the consumer interest in DSD file playback is recent enough that it simply isn't easily compatible with the older pro-hardware and software. Currently it's AoIP solutions like the Horus or USB/FW solutions like the Mytek, etc., that are in active development. The Mykerinos had a very long run (still works for many pro studios, too) but there is no more active development.

For your setup, getting a SDIF daughtercard and a DAC capable of SDIF input will be the only road ahead, if you want to stick with the Mykerinos. Or, get a DAC that accepts DSD over AES...

With regard to software, the world has moved on a long way in the three years since the early beta versions of Emotion were introduced. A ton of development would be needed to gain any kind of feature parity with something like JRiver's MediaCenter, just as one example.

Sincerely,

Graemme

Thanks for the info & solution offered,
The reason why I'm "wasting my time" with Mykerinos, is that I'm sympathetic to the idea of DSP processing (room acoustic EQ correction, group phase delays correction, AFC correction, DSP-x-over) while streaming HD LPCM files under real-time OS (RTX, MassCore). As one can see, DSD streaming is not an ultimate goal, but the option for me here (as long as DSD can't be natively DSP processed). One could say, there is no difference in sound quality between MassCore & ASIO mode, bit to bit, is a bit to bit. Well, I need to perform reliable A\B tests.

On the other hand, I'm still sceptic regarding the consumer audio over USB concept.
As for Ravenna AoIP technology, it may very well offer convinient, flexible & scalable solutions for the PRO market.
But when we talk about the task of audiophile components short distance point to point interconnection, the capability of "phase-clocking" packet AoIP protocol to surpass direct, live "time-clocking" SPDIF digital-audio stream, imho, looks questionable.
That is why, I would salute Emotion music server beta download availability for Mykerinos boards.
Beg me pardon for going off-topic.
