What does the "K" stand for in the designation?

The big difference is that these cards are using the AKM converter rather than the Arda...

Re: Horus Hapi New A/D Option Cards
Hello Mark,
I am about to purchase an additional card for my Horus so I will have 16 channels (non DSD/Premium) my current card is the AD8D, should i purchase just another AD8D or go with the new AKD8D?
In Merging's advertising they were very much promoting the Arda converters as being "the best in the world full stop" why do they go with AKM and is this not what RME Audio uses in all their audio interfaces?
Regards,
Gaston

Looks like "K" card has better specs?
Re: Horus Hapi New A/D Option Cards
Anyone heard them yet?

I noted also in the specs that numbers differ also for the Mic-Pre Analog section not only for the AD conversion, i.e. does this mean the mic-pre has changed too?
Re: Horus Hapi New A/D Option Cards
Yes I think that is where most of the design change is, according to press release.Gaston69 wrote:I noted also in the specs that numbers differ also for the Mic-Pre Analog section not only for the AD conversion, i.e. does this mean the mic-pre has changed too?

The Arda Tech website is down, perhaps they are no longer in business?
A few years ago (before Horus / Hapi) I tried to buy an evaluation board from them to test out their A/D chip, but they were so protective / unwilling to sell without interrogation that I gave up. Wonder if that approach to business caught up with them?

The back to front flute in this picture does not inspire confidence.
