ada vs ad + da hapi conversion
Are they the same converters? If not the sonic differences are evident?

They will be the same converters. At least, so I am led to believe.

I read somewhere that the ADA cards use a lower power AKM chipset and the AD and DA cards use Arda chipsets, but I cannot find this published anywhere in official Merging docs.

They are not the same circuit, but they are both very good.

I belive preamps are the same, DAC are the same ESS Sabre 9018, but ADC differs.
AD8D/P uses Arda tech 1201
ADA8 uses som AKM variant.
In my case, ADC on ADA8 measures better than AD8D, on both frequency response and THD+N. Noise performance is however slightly better on AD8D. Could of course be true only for my examples. The published spec. is avoiding to compare the exact same figures.
