Streacom Cases and Silent PC

I've built a bunch of these systems and can tell you that even with the "s" processor, when you enable hyperthreading and disable the c-states and speedstep for Masscore operation, the system operates at the absolute edge of the cooling capacity. These cases are really designed for use with i5 series processors.
I've actually stopped trying to build these as the reliability with masscore is less than stellar. All my current builds are with the 8 pipe version of the FC9 series cases. The ability to have a built in power supply (240w) gives enough power to add a video card and uATX motherboard which also makes the system much more stable for Masscore. I'm testing x99 series motherboards in this case right now and the heat load seems stable.

Hi Mark, I cannot find any references to an 8 pipe version of the FC9 on the Streacom site. Is this still available to your knowledge?

I use a Haxx.eu silent case wich couples the processor with a copper cooling block rather than heatpipes. Its rather large but keeps my 3.4 i7 cool for about 15 minutes on full throttle punishment. But it's a bit of work to put together and not cheap.

Normally on production machines you disable SpeedStep and adjust the C states for optimum performance. This causes the thermal load to rise but has a remarkable effect on system performance.
