Hi again,

I have been investigating the background recording feature in Pyramix 8, and feel pretty comfortable that I am across the backup capture side of things.
However, I notice that when recording to the Internal Recorder and an External one, using the selection button in the bottom TAB area enables moving from the Internal to an External recorder without interrupting recording, but if you try it the other way (from a background recorder to Internal), it will stop recording to the Internal drive, and prompt (if set to do so) for a file name.
I am just wondering if this recording interruption is an intended feature (which isn't so bad, perhaps, if you know what will happen before you do it...), of a bug?

Could you please clarify what you mean when you say "External Recorder"? Are you actually referring to a Background Recorder or are you controlling an external piece of hardware from Pyramix?

Pyramix doesn't help with the terminology in that it refers to your main project recording as "Internal" in the little pop-up field at the bottom of the main window, whereas in the Take Logger, it's called "Active Project" - go figure.

Just so I'm clear, the recording that you're being asked about stopping is the Internal/Active Project, and NOT the Background recording - correct? Is the message that comes up offering to stop recording the same, standard one (smallish window called "Record Name" with buttons for Good Take, Bad Take and Delete Take)? The window that appears when you stop a Background Recorder (provided you've checked the "Confirm Stop box in the Background Recorders Settings page) is called "Recorder 1" (or 2...) and just offers the choice of Yes or No.

This is not happening here on my Native installation of 8.1.9. I can switch between recorders all day long and it will not offer to stop any recording. They just keep going until I stop them individually.

What happens if you have the Take Logger window active, and you switch between recorders there? Can you start and stop the Active Project from there wihout any message appearing (as I believe it should)?

How much "Pre-buffering" time have you set for your Backup Recorder? Try switching it to 0 seconds to see if this behaviour goes away.

What happens if you have the Transport window visible and control starting and stopping from there?

Could there be any issue with how you've set up the Background Recorder's Mixer (which you can only make visible from the Transport window)?
