PC build : motherboard

Hi

I am planing building a new computer with the soon to be released Ivy Bridge cpu.
The recommended motherboards from Merging will not be compatible with Ivy Bridge : DP55KG/W and P7H57D-V EVO uses socket1156 (not IB compatible), the DQ67SW is one of the few 1155 socket motherboards that will not support the new processor.

Sooo: Looking for recommendations for a good 1155 motherboard that gives a rock solid platform for PMX Masscore to run on.

Any recommendations?

Morten

This might not be the answer you are hoping for, anyway I would definitely stick to Merging's hardware recommendations (see http://www.merging.com/pages/pcconfig) if you are thinking about a Mykerinos/MassCore system. This applies especially to new mainboard chipsets where there seem to be lots of possible compatibility issues, e. g. due to the PCI bus design (being different even within the LGA1155 family). All these little things that don't matter at all in everyday's PC work (and with other audio hardware) suddenly do matter when it comes to Mykerinos/MassCore. We had months of trouble and finally exchanged the mainboards in all our workstations from P67 to Q67.

If you want to use up-to-date hardware, a Pyramix Native system seems the only solution.

Do you want to keep your Mykerinos for long? If not, I don“t think you should sacrifice the investment by buying old components knowing that faster and better ones are almost available on the market. If you intend to go the Horus route, which does not need the Mykerinos if used in Ravenna mode, then get some advice from Merging and build an up to date system. If you want to keep your Mykerinos, also get advice from Merging to avoid any issues with Pyramix 8, which is on beta stage as we speak.
