reNOVAtor not launching on some sessions

For some reason reNOVAtor will not launch from 'Render CTR+W' window on certain session files.

Although my current session file will not allow reNOVAtor launch, an earlier version from series of 'save as' versions works just fine.

I can't figure out what's changed between sessions.

Problem has been recurring at this facility over period of six months. Happens on different projects.

Anyone experienced similar?

There is a three second minimum length requirement to open Renovator.

and/or

If you open the Render window manually, is there a specified directory for writing the output file? If there isn't, that can cause the problem you are seeing, although that behaviour isn't consistent.

Thanks for the response.

I've been selecting anywhere between 8secs and 1'40secs, hence should meet minimum time requirement.

Have also tried specifying/creating different directories for rendered files - still doesn't want to cooperate.

I do have one lead: the Glyph project drive appears to be assigned as 'dynamic'. So I'm in process of copying to an Avastor NTFS 64 from which I can run more tests.

Curiously, I've moved the dodgy session file onto network drive and opened using a different rig - reNOVAtor still will not open. Hence seems to be something in session file at play?

Still investigating... more later....

transferred projects to a different drive - problem solved.

evidently related to drive being setup as 'dynamic' in Windows XP.

not something other users are likely to encounter, I hope.

Hi David,
I've experienced something similar. I don't recall it being project related (and definitely not length of selection related), but every now and then it won't open. Trying again a few times sometimes solves it, otherwise quite PMX and restart (if not reboot) has done the trick thus far!

I've had more problems since last posting and we're still working on theory it's drive related.

No amount of re-tries or re-launches seems to have been successful for us.

But transferring project to a different drive does work.

It could be related to running WIndows XP.

Also, despite downloading and installing latest from renovator, version still shows 2.1 in top left corner of spectral display.

Hi, I've had a similar problem here. ReNovator opens fine but every once and a while when I hit render I get sent back to the Pyramix edit window without a new file being created. Rebooting or Relaunching fixes the problem -- sorry i forget which, it's been a while since it's happened. It's definitely not selection length or file name problem.

Right click in the blue toolbar at the top of the ReNovator window and select "about reNOVAtor" this will show you the build number.
