24 to 25 Fps mechanical sound

I am using Prosoniq MPEX 3 to speed up and pitch down an 85 minute documentary. I have tried the different settings in the MPEX 3, the music seems to come out fine, but each time the voice is sounding slightly mechanical. Has anyone else experienced this? Any sugestions of other plug ins?
Also if I use Project > Stretch/ Pitch > 24 to 25 Fps I do not get the "Phase Locked" button and the stereo tracks phase badly.
Thanks
Ric

Hi Ric,
If you know someone with ProTools, they may have Serato's Pitch'n'Time. I've consistently experienced good results with this, both for shifting short sections of audio in pitch, or time, and also time compression across an entire CD.

Hi,
you can also try to do it with Reaper (
http://www.reaper.fm). The Dirac algorythm is a good one i think and there is many other options to try. The MPEX3 is not good enough (anymore) IMO.

We've been doing a lot of testing on this recently across various platforms. Everything we evaluated had audible artefacts, but the best (in My opinion) was the Izotope algorithm, Pro tools have it licensed in there X-form plugin. I can't find anyone applying it as a VST yet though.

Have you tried Quick Convert/Resampler from the Media Manager? Make sure you have a grouped track before resampling. Should do the trick!

Thanks Jaap
The speed up work fine but the pitch is raised and not corrected. Correcting the pitch slows the track back down.
