Media Manager bug?

Have others had this problem with Media Manager? When viewing a folder with a lot of files that involves scrolling down to view, when I click on a file the display jumps back up the top. The most reliable way of selecting I've found is to click on a random file near the top, then click another, then use the scroll wheel! All fairly cumbersome... is it just my system or have others found this?

Also I would like to double-click to change sort order. Since I often miss slightly when selecting the first item in the list and click on the Name bar instead of the item. Then of course I wouldn't miss very often if it wasn't for the above problem/bug.

/Tomas

It was fixed in the Libraries, but they missed the same problem in the Media Management window.

Hi,

This was indeed a know issue and is fixed for the next version.
Workaround is to disable the trimmer view.

Thanks, although I do use the trimmer window almost constantly! Is there a rough date for release?

i upgraded today and experienced this first hand. it is quite frustrating, isn't it?!

as a workaround, you can make use of the 'home' and 'end' keys to facilitate moving about the list faster. make sure you have a file selected first.

hope this helps! cheers,

It really stops me from a good workflow. I always forget about the stupid fake-click. Gets me many times a day. Also, try dragging something in a library (clips/mixer/vs3 setting). It impossible, since Libs jump to toplevel. And last but not least the Seach Result Window popping up each time you perform a search is utterly disturbing.

The EDL view suffers from similar "jumping" when you select a clip. can that go on the list please

I'm working on 6.017 SP3, running XP. I.m browsing a lot through sound in my ofline ref lib and in the media manager and this jumping makes me crazy !!!!! Sometimes I have a search result containing over 500 items. You scroll down, reading, reading ... and then you see this sound that could work. You click it and BENG, you're I don't know were ... takes 3 minutes to find the sound again but BENG it jumps away .... AAARRRRRGGGGGGGGG

it's not fixed

I'll have to switch back to version 5 because editing takes up to much time this way :-(

And another thing, since I'm on version 6, there are many items (sound in ofline lib and sound in media manager) that when clicked freeze PMX for 10 to 60 second. Also when dubbelclicking on a other spot in the trimmer, the same freezing happens.
More people have this problem?

I have experienced something similar though only on my desktop with a Pentium 4 chipset (3.6GHz, speed is not an issue). My MacBook Pro does not exhibit this behavior with its Core2Duo. I don't know for sure that the processor is the correct variable here, but it would seem to be the most obvious. Releasing mixer resources also causes these pauses on occasion, though the system does not crash. So far I have not found a fix on my desktop. If anyone has had this problem and solved it, we would be grateful for any insight.

And in keeping true to the thread, I agree the media manager bug is quite annoying. I unfortunately "discovered" it in front of a client too.

well, I did have the problem with PMX 5, but only when I would browse a specific folder (maybe 2 folders out of 150) I'd always save the session before browsing this folder because PMX could freeze or crash. Now 100 out of 150 folders show this behaviour :( I'm still using the same computer; only I switched to PMX 6. But I have to admit, PMX 6 is more stable. It recovers always from it's freeze.

And I don't want to be all negative :D there are many great things in PMX 6 and these bugs may seem minor, but really .... it takes the flow and fun out of my editing let alone the sheer embarrassment in front of a client.

I hear that! I too have had some freezes.

I've been away from Pyramix for a few months, but I'll be back on it in anger in another few months for the next biggie. I've heard the latest build has fixed the media manager bug, is this right?

I'm working with the latest official release (6.0.17 SP3) and on my machine it is not fixed.
