AIFF-WAV?

Postby Perfect Record » Wed Sep 17, 2008 21:54

I'm working on a job recorded in Metric Halo in AIFF.

When I have the choice on a multitrack project of using either AIFF or WAV files, is there any advantage to converting to WAV for Pyramix?

Also, is there a means of converting existing files into native Pyramix interleaved files?

Not really, Pyramix can read both. However, possibly Wav is more universal on other programs.

hi!

from what i understand, the AIFF format has a filesize limit of 4GB, not the WAV format

... I thought the WAV format is even more limited (max. 2 GB per file)??
If you want to have the timecode information included in the file you better choose the BWF format.

Hi,

Yes normaly the .wav file format is limited to 2GB, but Pyramix (since v5.x) switches from .wav to the RF64 format (not visible to users) which does not have file size limitation.
