Playback Stalls

Postby Adler » Wed Apr 23, 2008 19:25

Hello all,

I have been getting playback stalls from time to time in Pyramix v.5.1 SP3. What is the cause of these stalls? Not enough Mykerinos processing power? Too many plug-ins? Not enough RAM?

I never had these problems with v.4.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

could be lots of reasons, mostly disk/host related: How many tracks at which fs/bitdepth? one file per track? many crossfades? ... Have you tried adjusting the playback buffer? What's the Mykerinos DSP usage?

Best
Bernhard

hello all

i ve got the same problem in 5.1sp3
project: 24 Bits 48 Khz
reading 8 tracks and recording 24 tracks
one files per tracks is on and there's many cues on the composition

i have to defragment every 2 days

did a raid 0 system could help me ?
i think i never had this problem before switching to one file per track( its usefull for naming = prefix with track name )
