I am working on a 48K 24 bit project going to CD. There are edits and level changes and processing on the EDL. Do I first Mix the whole project down with dither at 48, then put the marks in and generate the image, which would do another pass of dither in the process?
Or do I go right to the image, and let it mix and put dither on in that process? Is there a way to control those dither settings?
Thanks
Dan

Hello,
Go for only one pass of dynamic processing, bit reduction, sample rate conversion and dithering.
If you need to make a temporary mixdown or render for "cleaning" the edits, you can do it in 32Bit float / 48k, which will be totally transparent and will offer a very large dynamic range (Just make sure Dither is off on your mix bus if you mix to a 32bit file).
Dither Settings can be selected with a click on "Dither" in the mixer.
Kind regards
