PTP blinking despite sync settings work

Postby Andreas Klein » Sun Jan 30, 2022 22:16

Hello,

please reply to me if you can advise me with an annoying problem: despite having HAPI and Pyramix v13.0.4 set to identical sample rates (on HAPI itself and on "All settings" one computer), the PTP status light (right lower corner on Pyramix project window) blinks red, or sometimes yellow. On the MT Discovery window, HAPI and MassCore are orange, not green. However, everything seems to work within in Pyramix. I can't find a solution in the manual.
There seems to be "another input with another sample rate available" according to an older manual. The HAPI is set to "internal" as sync code.
Can you help?
Thank you!

Hi Andreas

You could try checking the advanced web page of the Pyramix and make sure that there aren't any stray streams still defined but not connected.

Hello Mike,

thanks for answering. But I am confused about "advanced webpage of Pyramix" and "there aren't any stray streams still defined...". I am not sure what this means "advanced webpage" and "stray stream". Can you explain?
Thanks!

Andreas

Hi Andreas

I mean you need to check in the advanced web viewer of all you devices that there aren't any stray sources or sinks that are unassigned or left over from earlier setups. Aneman doesn't always remove them properly.

Hi Andreas.

Maybe this issue is resolved?

I propose you go to your Hapi settings - you can do that by right-clicking on Hapi in the Device List Aneman - and be sure to check Auto under Setup-Format. In Aneman, you create a Sampling Rate Zone and drag Pyramix/MassCore and Hapi into that zone. If you place Pyramix/MassCore in the "Castle" (the box at the top), the settings in Pyramix will determine the sampling rate for your system.

If there are any problems with connections between the devices on your Ravenna network, this is shown by a red rectangle for the device having problems. I you right-click on that rectangle, you can usually resolve these problems.

B.T.W., the Advanced page of your device is found by right-clicking on the device in the Device List in Aneman.
Best of luck.

Hi Per,

thank you for your reply and advice. Unfortunately, your suggestions do not apply for my situation: I don't use/have Aneman, but work strictly with a Pyramix turn key system and the HAPI as interface. The IP configuration (under Networks) on the computer are set to "Obtain an IP address automatically".
If I go to the "advanced open" HAPI window, the various tabs show a lot of parameters which I don't know what they mean. In any case, there is nothing to set "automatic". And because everything seems to work within the software, I don't want to fool around with settings.

The customer service of Merging in the USA is getting slower and not always loyal to customers...

I appreciate you trying to help out!

Andreas

OK, but you must still somehow connect your HAPI to Pyramix. Are you using EasyConnect?
Which version of Pyramix?
Native or MassCore?

The HAPi connects via Ravenna (separate Ethernet cable). My Pyramix version is 25th anniversary, 13.4. , Masscore.
I know that PTP refers to the clock synchronization. That’s where the issue is. HAPI is the clock source. Both HAPI and Pyramix are set to the same sampling rate, in my case 96kHz.

Have a great weekend!

Hi Andreas,

I've noticed this as well, starting with the MassCore 25th Anniversary version and a HAPI Mk1, and now with the latest v14 and a HAPI Mk2...it hasn't gone red, but sometimes flashes yellow then goes back to green. I'm using ANEMAN and the system and Windows version meets the Merging specs for this version, and I also just have a direct connection to the network card with no switches. Strangely it didn't seem to happen with recent DXD projects, but I noticed it again today at 96kHz. There haven't been any audio issues though. Good luck!

Cheers,
Tom
