OMF Import

Postby Brent@SSD » Mon Sep 16, 2002 01:59

Hi Folks,

Just trying to get some material out of ProTools into Pyramix. Ive exported as both an embedded and media based OMF's, and tried both in the MediaMerger application.
So far the embedded one seems to do something for a little while then totally crashes and re-boots my system, but the media based OMF just pops back out to desktop.

Am I doing something wrong or has MediaMerger not been tested on WIN XP or something?

Anyone had good experience moving "Projects" from ProTools into Pyramix? Id love to hear ASAP! Ive got a big demo in two days and so far cant get my demo project to load!
Thanks,
Brent Heber

Hi Brent,

1) Export OMF from your ProTools.
2) Use Fonction Projet-New Projet,
then Projet-Import-Import OMF in your Pyramix.
This fonction need a special authorisation key.
3) Be sure you have MacDrive2000 installed in your PC.
4) Medias must be 16bps.
Use preferably Pyramix version 4.0SP3.

Hi Brent and Francois,

Perhaps you may also need the small program MultiFile Fixer. I think it is available as a download from the Merging website. It changes the filenames so that Pyramix sees them as grouped clips instead of individual files for each track the way PT does it. I don't know if this is relevant to an OMF import but I do know that it was vital for accessing and editing media created in PT on a Mac drive.

Good Luck Brent!

Can Pyramix do this with Sonic Solutions USP and HD EDLs? Somewhere I heard that it was possible but I don't know of anyone who has done it successfully yet.

Protools and Sonic solution Interchange format

Postby Nicolas Cavin » Fri Oct 25, 2002 11:23

Hello All,

This is not possible in Pyramix 4.0, but you can do it through OMF as Francois Musy indicates above in his post.

Pyramix 4.1 (still in beta phase 'til probably end november) will include Interchange formats including a Protools 5.0 Interchange and a Sonic Solutions Interchange format. You can find info on this in the News section of the Merging Website.
