Audio post solutions

Postby Nunz » Mon May 20, 2002 01:07

Hi there Everyone

Thought i'd try posting a new topic in here....and of course i thought i'd start with my favourite issue at the moment...audio post solutions.

We are currently using Sonic Studio 5.3.2 with a Media 100 QX capture card to service our Television and advertising clients. This solution works well (except for the ever present sonic bugs...but they are annoying and do not effect stability!) It allows us to capture video and audio simultaneously within Sonic, and then lock to the Quicktime Movie. Of course we are using quite low resolution pictures (9:1 compression) but this is fine for lip sync etc.

Ok, on to the topic for this thread...is anyone currently (or planning to) using Pyramix for this kind of work and if so, what have been the issues (good and bad).

I guess this topic also covers machine control bug as well. Sonic's machine control is marginal, but does work. What have the groups experiences been with machine control via Pyramix.

thanks for your time, and i look forward to hearing your opinions!

ciao

Hi Nunz,

Seems like we are doing much of the same work.

The neverending videocard-issues, yes... Let me tell you this, if you have a video card that is working well with your current system and is supported by Pyramix you should have no problem. Pyramix is very stabile regarding videocards, the problems we've expirienced is getting the card to work with the OS. We're currently waiting for Merging to update its support for videocards before we buy one, so at the moment we use software for viewing video.

Good luck

Thanks for the positive comments!

We have ordered our system and ar awaiting it's arrival here den under in the next few weeks! We will also be waiting to see how the guys at Merging go with the FireWire video solution....though we are VERY happy with the new Sonic Import..and the VERY familiar fade editor...they have integrated a bunch of Sonic functions into it which will make it easier for us to implement it into our workflow!

So which video card are you using? I'm not clear on what you mean by 'using software'?

Again, thanks for your time!

Hi.

What I mean by software is that am not using any videocard at the moment. Just a little window like Mediaplayer inside Pyramix, and then I sync up the VCR if I need to look at the big screen.

But I will get a new card, trust me.
