Re: Pyramix 8 - What do You Need More?
I have a couple of additions:
I'd like to be able to copy strips from one project to another
And since I recently invested in a couple of digital microphones: Direct control of microphone settings from the Pyramix mixer (according to AES42)
That couldn't be too hard
Cheers

Re: Pyramix 8 - What do You Need More?
I definitely agree!
But it's sort of possible today to copy tracks by using the library, isn't it? And I think you can even use PLACE to get things in the right spot.
Strips, with plug-in settings and everything, isn't possible as far as I know. It's only possible to copy the full mixer (through Library, Save or Share).
This is a really nice thread...
Thanks don Paulo!

Re: Pyramix 8 - What do You Need More?
Hi Per,
it´s possible to use the libraries to move content from tracks, not the tracks themselves. Of course you can use the Place tools and drop the audio in your current project tracks, but it´s not as flexible (IMO) as importing the tracks and associated strips, including all automation(that presently is broken in libraries btw). What I propose is something like:
1-Go to Import.
2-Select Import Tracks and Strips
3-Select the project
4-A menu pops up showing the available tracks for the choosen project and import options
5-Select the ones you want
6-Choose and check options like:
Import all tracks (ignores the selection)
Import only selected tracks
Import only Mixer Strips
Import Tracks and Strips
Import Automation
Import Inserted Plugins
Insert after Selected Track(inserts the new tracks after the current project selected track)
Insert at Bottom of Current Project Tracks
7-Click OK
The choosen tracks get imported into your current timeline and/or Mixer strips
Repeat the procedure from any existing projects you may have, to include into your current project.
Simple, flexible and easy. No more Alt+Shift from timeline to libraries of other opened projects, then go and use place, then having to load the plugins again etc.
This doesn´t mean that I don´t like libraries, I use them all the time, but for this type of things, I find a dedicated menu much more flexible and quick.
Of course this is just a wish. I doubt that it gets implemented anytime soon or ever. Simple things like drag and drop tracks and mixer strips are not yet possible in the main windows, so I won´t expect this more complex things to happen anyway. Only in our imagination

Re: Pyramix 8 - What do You Need More?
Good thinking! This is exactly what I think many of us would need.
It was a long time since I worked with Pro Tools, but as far as I remember, you could also select tracks/strips in the destination project to replace these with tracks/strips from the source project.
Let's hope for the best to make a great DAW even better

Re: Pyramix 8 - What do You Need More?
Yes, it's called Import Session Data and I find it really useful. Actually the idea I proposed is based on that, with a few tweaks.
Another way of doing it is to open a source project, select tracks and drag them into the current project. I mean, not in Protools as you can't have two projects open, but it would be great to have in Pyramix. One day maybe... for now I would be happy to be able to select multiple tracks in the timeline, either by drawing selections in the timeline(link selection to selection tracks) or selecting them in the track headers using modifier controller keys like Shift, Alt, Ctrl. Also being able to do the same in the main mixer window and reorganize strips in sync with tracks. All DAW's do that, why not Pyramix? It's one of those things that have low priority, but it makes our life miserable in the real world, is a shame Merging doesn't listen. Simple things make huge diferences.
For example there are things that you need to enter the mixer config page that should be available in the main window, for example copying, moving or dragging plugins.
In the tracks is the same, you need to open the Tracks tab to re organise tracks and even if you do so, the mixer strips stay in position and don't change accordingly... boooooooooooooooooo, I wonder what Syncronise Tracks and Strips option was invented for, it doesn' work as should.
Is still a mistery for me why not more people complain about this simple issues that affect everybody's daily life and makes us loose huge amounts of time.

Re: Pyramix 8 - What do You Need More?
Hi Paulo
in effect you mean being able to save and import fx-chains and have different configurations their of (ie settings)? I have been thinking about this also. I thing its a must-have.

Re: Pyramix 8 - What do You Need More?
Hi Tas, yes that´s the idea.
If you insert, let´s say 4 plugins in a strip or bus and have their settings adjusted to suit the audio, you could choose to save that configuration, order and settings as a user preset.
So at any time, you could re-load/recall them in any strip or bus in any project. Plus, if needed, you should be able to load those user presets in the Render rack, for quick render of effects.
It´s like floating racks of plugins
Well, that´s the way I think of it, a soft rack of processing that can be applied whenever you need it. Also, to further add funtionality, imagine that you could select a clip or clips, right click on them and choose the option Apply Preset to Clip. Then, select your previous saved preset and hit Load into Selection. Voilá, your selected clips in the timeline start to play through the plugin chain, before hitting the input in a mixer strip...clip based processing. Move the clip in the timeline and the plugin rack stays attached.
Futurology or myth?

The last I heard, the 'clip-based effects' feature was not part of the version 8 plans.

Thanks for the info, but that's a great shame.
Hate to say it, but after the EuCon 64 bit debacle and my video playback issues, yesterday I took the plunge and ordered PT10 and the CPTK. Merging have had their eye off the ball for too long, I'm afraid to say.

Well, I understand your point. But you won't have clip based in PT10 either.
Regarding this not being planned for Pyramix V8, I wonder what is planned anyway.
