Just have to agree with NickM’s thought on the licenses and pricing. Just seems like we are paying a lot for something that is standard in much cheaper (even free) systems. We are slowly phasing out Pyramix and replacing it with Nuendo. We don’t have time to wait for merging, and pay insane amounts of money each time they create a update with features we needed 2 years ago.

Totally agree. I just have not moved on yet because I feel way too comfortable with the editing and flow, and I keep giving them the benefit of the doubt that it will be great soon. The mixing is terrible enough though to make me keep eyeing the "dark side". The thing I find interesting lately is that all of my friends have pro tools. They all complain about it, just like I complain about pyramix. The difference is that they complain about the hardware they are FORCED to use. Thats it, thats your complaint! We are forced to use hardware too. We do not seem to complain about it, there are much bigger problems to complain about. THE SOFTWARE and PRICING. INSANE. Sorry for beginning to rant.

I am so angry right now. Thank you merging for the quick response letting me know that you NEVER RECIEVED AN EMAIL, OR EVEN A PHONE CALL FROM MY DEALER!

It seems Dennis Gaines of Independent Audio is now taking care of the matter and by tomorrow I will have an answer.

I Nick, sorry that you´re having a bad moment. Hopefully everything will be fine, one can´t confuse a dealer with a brand apparently :D

If you feel confortable with Pyramix, why change? You´ll soon start to complain against whatever system you´ll choose, we all do 8O

There are things that I don´t like in Pyramix but often I found when checking other systems, that those details were even worst! I guess that no software is perfect as we keep asking for more and more all the time.

My colleagues here use Nuendo and PT and they complain like hell. Sometimes I show them how I do it in Pyramix and they go, ohhh, that´s great, whish these guys had that too. The opposite is also true, but in Pyramix I find some kind of assurance that I don´t feel with other systems, despite all things I would like to have changed. Anyway, just my thought on the subject of moving on....
Best regards,

Paulo M

Dear Nick:
I want to apologize about the long wait time you have had. It is solely my fault as I was away in Europe. Joel had emailed me about your issues and the hardware you were looking to upgrade. I am usually very quick with answers as many on here can attest to. I understand your frustration and will work as hard as I can to get you through.
Dennis
PS I was at the Merging dealer meeting for the first 2 days of the trip (wife had to live with it) and version 7 looks amazing!

Thank You Claude Cellier for being the first to respond with some sort of an answer. So It looks like there is an upgrade path for the hardware, 50% of the value of your old daughter card can be taken off the price of a new daughtercard. :D Also 25% of a mykerinos card value can be taken off the price of a new myk-x30. :) Claude has left the details to my dealer to reveal, What it will actually cost. I still have not heard from Mr. Gaines again about this other than to let me know he is going to get back with me tomorrow...That was on thursday. My dealer has never once called me still after calling to speak to him countless times for the last month and a half. I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE PRICE IS I WILL HAVE TO PAY! I understand that now it is the weekend and that is fine, but come tomorrow, I really would like to hear from somebody with an actual quote.(I am really serious, I am not joking. Please call) Are there any dealers out there that could help me? Anyone looking to get rid of used MADIC2 / Myk or mykerinos cards? Anyone?

I just wanted to thank the few who did help me eventually get the information I needed about the hardware and software upgrading.

Unfortunately, after starting the upgrade process and being ignored and unable to work for so long, my upgrade budget has shrank quite considerably, and I cannot afford it without stretching myself to thin.

What bothers me is that if the answers I received could have been available, oh lets see, a month and a half ago, I would have purchased the hardware and software upgrades, and been working rather than typing here. I have to seek used/secondhand prices now.

What I fear is that there will probably be a lack of available used/secondhand hard/software. I need to get this finished soon before I have no budget. If anyone knows where to find merging MYK-X30 cards used or a MADIC2 card please, please, please let me know.

Back to dreaming about software upgrades that do not cost $2600
