Pyramix 4.3.5 Sp3 and Melodyne VST-Plug-In - error messages

Postby bodo.biber » Thu Feb 08, 2007 23:57

Hi,
I just bought the new melodyne stand alone software including the VST-Plug-In-Version of this high end pitch shifter in order to get it working together with pyramix. When I tried to plug the VST it into a mixer strip, I got the error message:

Melodyne Plug In
Uncaught GNAssertionException,reason:Assertion
failed in line 622 of GNAudioProcessor.cpp:!_isRunning.

I expected that this kind of integration probably won´t work since melodyne is not a true realtime-plug-In. So I tried the render mode and opened the FX-Rack.
Surprisingly pyramix doesn´t offer the choice to use the plug in in the VST-folder/menu;
Reinstalling and restarting didn´t change anything.

Has anybody else tried successfully to get melodyne working with pyramix ? Any informations and suggestions are welcome!

It´s such a shame since melodyne offers dynamic pitch shifting in the best quality available today....

sincerely, bodo.biber / Rainer Bartesch

Hi,

Melodyne plug-in cannot, for now, work as a plug-in in Pyramix. That is because it requires TimeCode information to be conveyed through the VST architecture, something that is not currently supported in Pyramix.

Among other improvements, we are working on this features that should be part of Pyramix’s next big revision. (V6.0)

For now, you could (just like I do regularly) create files, in Mixdown or render, for both the background music and , for example the voice. Then import and edit these in Melodyne launched in stand-alone mode (since you have this version). Once edited you just need to export the edited voice and open it back in Pyramix.

And since, whether using the plug-in or the bridge version, you anyhow have to first pipe the audio into Melodyne before editing, the whole process does not take much longer using export and the standalone version, than it would take using the VST plug-in.

Oh, and yes, if you can, do your exports back and forth to Melodyne in 32bit float, you will this way use exact duplicates of your existing audio, thus rendering the entire process pretty much transparent.

melodyne plug-in and Pyramix aspects of future developments

Postby bodo.biber » Tue Feb 13, 2007 18:43

Hi Pierre,
thank you for your reply. I already had contacted Peter Neubaecker who had developed this marvelous Melodyne-Tool. ...

I do now the workaraound similar to what you suggested: rendering the tracks that needed to be pitched into WAVE files, then I loading them into the standalone version of Melodyne, do the corrections there, exporting the pitched files, renaming them again, opening the Pyramix session again, placing the files in the proper position, and then - I can go on mixing ...

...whether using the plug-in or the bridge version, you anyhow have to first pipe the audio into Melodyne before editing, the whole process does not take much longer using export and the standalone version, than it would take using the VST plug-in...

Concerning it is a production with about 26 single tracks that have to be rendered, the ex- and import including all renaming procedures takes ages and is a very tiring process.
So I really would appreciate to have a chance to run the melodyne plug-In inside Pyramix - B U T - and that´s a completely different aspect - I hope you can implant this into Pyramix without loosing the accurate timing and the audio quality that makes the pyramix system quite unique.

Many users - not just I - are watching the further development of the software with sorrows, because it looks af if the program is going to become more and more a native software that probably will loose the benefits of sample accurate timing based upon the mykerinos board and the mixer architecture.

If I had to choose between two options I would prefer having less features but an extraordinary sound quality based on a stable system instead of having a Windows program that can do nearly everything except playing all tracks in 100% accurate timing every time I hit the button...
Please don´t sacrify your most important feature!!!

sincerely,

Rainer Bartesch
