Quciktime to dv.avi
We receive a lot of material as quicktime files and was wondering if there is a simple way, ie free codec, to convert these to DV.AVI files that can be used under virtual transport. I know quicktimes can be played on V Cube, but at the moment don't have one!
If you get Quicktime Pro (costs around £25 to upgrade your free QT player from Apple) then it has the export option to convert your movie to an AVI. We set the compression setting to DV-Pal. Unfortunately it makes the file quite large (around 2GB for a 50MB QT file) but it's the only way we've managed to convert it other than recording the QT movie through a canopus ADVC100 into DS Video player, which is a little more complicated and hard to set up.
WinMPG Video Convert at www.winmpg.com is a great little converter. We use it all the time for converting .mov to .avi.
