Modified Keystrokes

Over years, I've modified keystrokes on my system. Now I need to do a clean re-install.

Is there a way to see just those keystrokes that I've modified so I can re-set them. Some of those modified keystrokes have been with me so long, I'm not exactly certain what's original and what's modified.

I know that I can save a set, but I really want to re-start completely fresh, as I've had trouble with corrupted keystrokes lately.

In the Keyboard Shortcuts Editor window, you'll see the option for "Save Table" on the right side at the bottom. As it says in the Manual on page 510, "A table can be exported as a Text File along with some comments about commands. This is very useful since it enables you to print it as a command reference guide with your own keyboard shortcuts." What's not mentioned is that you can choose whether to export every Keyboard Shortcut including those built-in by Merging - OR - just the ones that you have made yourself. This will generate an .RTF file which can be printed out for future reference.

Note that this is not the same as "Save Preset" which will save all the Keyboard Shortcuts, including your own custom creations, to a transferable file. This is the quick and easy answer for a re-install, but you mentioned that you have had trouble with corrupted shortcuts, in which case the Table is the answer.

Note also that if, by some chance, any of your Keyboard Shortcuts are single characters (with no modifier such as the Ctrl. Alt. or Shift keys), you must avoid the use of any which have been hard coded into Pyramix by Merging. Otherwise, this will cause a conflict which will result in bad behaviour, if not outright crashing. In these cases, I've found it best to restrict the use of single character Shortcuts to keys on the right side of the alphanumeric (QWERTY) keyboard - essentially any letters to the right of Y, H, and M are good candidates.

In looking at this, I see options to either Export All or Export only commands that have an assigned keyboard shortcut.

To the best I can tell, there is no way to export a list of my modified shortcuts.

Yeah, I saw something similar. Yet when to do export a list of keyboard commands, you will see the ones you've modified yourself, along with all the defaults. I guess it's up to you to remember which is which.

As an alternative to that, you could save your current set up as a Shortcut Set, and print out that list, then having saved what you have now to a Shortcut set, load the default Pyramix set, and print that out. Comparing the two documents will reveal which ones you changed.

That's the challenge. On a large table like that, it's not easy to pick out the ones that are mine. After so many years, I've accumulated more modified keystrokes than I imagine. It's obvious when I sit down at a standard Pyramix installation.
