Postby Gaston69 » Mon Nov 13, 2017 07:21

Hi,

I am looking for advice/help on the following problem I am having audio dropouts on Monitoring Pro Tools/Reaper/Playback/listening iTunes/Youtube via the Horus AES output.

My configuration is:

Macbook Pro Mid 2012 High Sierra
Horus
Benchmark DAC1 fed via the Horus AES output

I have installed the latest drivers etc however nothing helped so far :-(

Any help is welcome

I haven't upgraded yet to High Sierra. Is High Sierra supported by the VAD driver?
I have had one drop-out using VAD once, but I believe it was because I hadn't configured the firewall/turned it off.

Please check ravenna latency.
In System preference -> Merging RAVENNA/AES67 setting.
Set latency 128 sample.(highest latency)

I have Mac Pro (2013), Macbook Pro 15(2017).
I think revenna driver need cpu power.
When I set mac Pro at 48 sample, there is NO drop out.
When I set macbook pro as 48 sample, there is drop out.

To make sure it is not a matter of an incompatible operating system I am currently backing up my drives and will downgrade from High Sierra to Sierra. It seems also that Pro Tools is not supported yet although I am not sure if PT all by all is that stable for live recordings. Would like to give Reaper a try.

In the meantime I purchased a Cisco SG300-10 switch so I can connect a second Macbook Core DUO 2 with Boom Recorder (for redundantie).

So far I find Live classical recordings very tricky using computers, as there is always something that can go wrong due to certain tasks running in de background or incorrect drivers/plugins etc etc.

Will also try to increase the latency see if this helps, thanks for all the tips

I just want to inform that:

- I have downgraded from MacOS High Sierra to MacOS Sierra
- Installed the very latest version of ANEMAN V1.1.5
- Configured Cisco SG300-10 with "STARTUP CONFIGURATION FILE" provide by Merging
- Clean install Reaper
- Optimized preferences in MacOS as suggested by Merging

So far everything is stable and sounds fantastic, tomorrow will be recording in Amsterdam an ensemble that won last week an Edison (Classical Music).

I am looking forward and thanks to all of you for all the efforts in helping me out.

Cheers
