AAF Import

Postby Adrian » Tue Sep 20, 2011 12:58

Just a quick question. Is AAF import quicker in V7 than V6?

At the moment the difference between OMF and AAF imports is chalk and cheese. Omf's I can import direct into Pmx 4 or 5 times as quick than an AAF.

Also a project created with an AAF import is a lot more sluggish to load and save than one imported by omf even though all the media is converted to PMF.

cheers

Can't compare what AAF was like on v6 as I came from v5.1 but I have found AAF to be a much better solution now than OMF (especially to and from ProTools).
Be very interested to hear how clip gain and envelope now translates to PT v10 via AAF now that it finally has the feature.

Envelopes work pretty well in AVID <-> PMX exchange. The only akward thing is that in PT an Envelope is a gain change with the fader, whereas in PMX it isn't.

It used to be but PTv10 has the same feature as Pyramix with clip gain and envelope now so I'm hoping that the interchange between the two will be a lot better. PT could never correctly translate clip gain and envelope to its automation. I hope this will make switching between the two platforms a viable option.
