.MOV files in Pyramix v7.01 SP1
To playback .mov files within Pyramix - Will the Quicktime Video Player option suffice or do I need DS Video player?
Re: .MOV files in Pyramix v7.01 SP1
Hi,
the DS video player only plays movies encoded with windows codecs present on your system. To play QT(mov) you need the QT option in Pyramix and to have the normal QT reader installed on your machine. You´ll also need the Advanced Video suport, in case your Pyramix pack is not a post pack.
For confirmation on this, you better contact Merging or your distributor directly.
If you have the budget and need video replay and audio extracting often, you better buy a VCube LE or XE, which is a software only version of the original VCube and intended to be installed on the same machine as Pyramix. I did that and I don´t regret it, since post is my main area.
Hope it helps

Hi there
Can VCube playback Quicktime ProRes files straight out the box or does it need to transcode them first?

Straight out of the box. IIRC, you need a key though.
