Hi,
I am wondering if somebody experienced this issue already.
I run Windows 7 32 bit, on my bootcamp Snow Leopard partition. Pyramix 7, SP1.
1.Problem.
When I try to open project from Mac drive, it shows me the error.
"Can't expand project error
The project G:// read only.
Since it needs to be expanded a writable copy will be done in C:/"
As a result after this project is opened. I can't really do anything, pyramix crashes.
2. Big problem.
All files bigger than 4GB are missing from all projects.
I have multiples hard drives. I tried to mount windows formatted NTFS hard drives, and Pyramix just does not see media files which are bigger than 4GB. Those files do exist on the hard drives, and I can see them in my computer just fine. But they are missing from media folder. For example I have project with 20 takes. All takes bigger than 4 GB are just not showing up in media folder.
I though originally that this could be mac drive problem. However I did open projects from my NTFS hard drives which were formatted on windows machines. Same problem.
I also opened this projects on Windows Compaq laptop. Same thing. Files which are bigger than 4GB, just does not show up in media management folder.
The same Windows 7 32 bit version, but Pyramix 6.2.3 version....
Any advice?
Thanks!

Re: 4gb files are missing in Pyramix 7
Hi There
I have been having the same problems for a long time, and no-one seems to be able to fix it! We use Mac format drive for archive as many clients use Mac based edit systems after we have recorded the original material, so we need to be able to quickly copy files around. Like you I thought it was a MAcDrive issue, but I am using the latest version and this is such a common programme I cannot believe that this problem has not been picked up. I do find that a work-around for me is to copy the files that are larger than 4GB to my internal sata drive and then mounting them from there usually works. I have tried formatting the Mac drives in numerous different machines, with or without journaling, with or without OS9 drivers, and always have the same problems. At the moment I'm thinking it might be a conflict somewhere with MassCore on our particular motherboard, or some of the Windows drivers. I have had the problem with XP and Windows 7 though.
Best wishes
Mike

Re: 4gb files are missing in Pyramix 7
This has nothing to do with PMX. To proove this, just copy another large file, larger than 2^32 = 4 Gb -say a nice Blu-Ray- from one disc to another. Watch your system fail.

Re: 4gb files are missing in Pyramix 7
hi there,
i just made the update to pyramix 7 and encountered the same problem. but i´m sure it´s related to pyramix, because the same project with a 9 gb-file in it worked just fine two days ago within pyramix 6, and nothing else was changed except the update to pyramix 7.
any hints?

Re: 4gb files are missing in Pyramix 7
I strongly suspect PMX.
A colleague came to me the other day with just this problem from his new PMX v7, Merging-built machine; PMF files on an external hard disc - his PMX wouldn't see the files.
My PMX v5 machine worked with them no problem
.
We tried all the usual trashing the QuickMount file operations to no avail. It consistently worked in v5, but the files wouldn't show in v7 (regardless of using the v7 EDL they were recorded / created in, or a new EDL from v5).
Workaround was to render them on the v5 machine as BWAVs, then send them back over, where, even though the resultant file was a similar size, v7 was quite happy to read the files and get on with the job. Tedious...
(Didn't try a v6 machine, so I can't report on whether that would have been happy or otherwise).

Re: 4gb files are missing in Pyramix 7
Hi,
We have reproduced the same issue in our office, with files generated with Pyramix V6 on a HFS+ drive, using MacDrive 8. (MT4260)
The files bigger than 4 Gigs generated with V7 are correctly seen on the HFS+ drive.
Best regards
