Fade Editor Default View

Postby Larry Elliott » Sat Sep 13, 2008 09:47

Is there any way to configure a “Default” view for the Fade Editor window. Ideally I would like for it to display the Fit Fade Option.

Thanks

Can you do it with a macro?

i.e. the macro is 'Open fade editor>Fit Fade' then assign the macro to the keyboard shortcut you use to open the editor?

Thanks to STA for the 'Fit Fade' reminder!

Here's my updated macro:

View Menu\Editor Tabs\Fade Editor
Clips Menu\Edit Fade Near Cursor
Fade Editor Menu\Fit Fade

The reason I do it this way is because the 'View Menu...' version allows me to toggle the fade editor on/off with a key shortcut, whereas that doesn't work if the Fade Editor is opened any other way. The second command is to force the reluctant and confused Pyramix into displaying the fade that I expect to be there (based on where the cursor is in the EDL)

...and while I'm at it, here's my simulation of the Sadie 'F5' razorcut command:

Tracks Menu\De-Select Track
Selection Menu\Select Clips Under Cursor
Edit Menu\Split
Clips Menu\ Edit Fade Near Cursor
Fade Editor\Load Default X-Fade Preset
Fade Editor\Accept & Close Editor
Clips\De-Select All

This will cut across the entire EDL, without regard for particular track groups. If you just want to cut/fade across the Track group that you have currently selected, use the same macro, but remove the first step (Tracks Menu\De-Select Track).

In case you are wondering why I chose to use the Fade Editor commands and not just the simple fade commands in the 'Clips' menu...you'll quickly figure that out (like I did) when your painstakingly-created crossfades start disappearing, for 'no apparent reason'
