Quicktime video overlaying

Hi Laurent, can I have your opinion on this please?

One of these days I tried the Quicktime key on my Pyramix in order to run it through Virtual Transport as I do with DS. However I found that contrary to DS (or indeed WMV) I can´t have the video sent through my Matrox Parhelia video composite out as I do with DS, using video overlaying feature on the Matrox. Is this a Quicktime issue or I´m I doing something wrong? Thanks and regards,

Hello,

What happens when playing this file directly from QuickTime player?

Hi, it´s the same, no video overlaying. If I play files using WMP outside Pyramix, I have my video overlayed, no problem, but with QT, nothing. I just thought that by playing QT files from VT would solve the issue, since DS poses no problem, but it didn´t work... .thanks

I think it's a Matrox issue, you can't read Quicktime Overlay with Parhelia. Same issue with my P750.
Using Quicktime alternative solve the pb, because it use Windows Media Overlay to read Quicktime.

Other solution, change your video card.

Ok Sylvain, I´m going to check with Matrox, but I think there´s some issue with QT Alternative and Pyramix, that I read a while ago. Maybe Laurent can give some advice. Regards,

Hello Paulo,

May be you can consider to install a VCube SE on your Pyramix machine. I have currently no other bullet proof solution to solve your problem.

Hi Laurent, I´ll probably do that as soon as I can. I didn´t know I could install it on the same machine as Pyramix, I thought I would need the Dell PC. Is it a PCIe card? Thanks

VCube SE needs an empty PCIe (x4) slot to host the Video card.
Note also that dedicated hard drive is required for video.

Thanks for the info Laurent. I have a dedicated drive for video already, a Raptor 160 Gb, so I think will do, however all the PCIe slots on my Asus MB are 16x, so in principle a 4x card like the Vcube SE will fit on the 16x slot, but making the bus behave like a 4x. Am I right, or do you think is there any incompatibility? Thanks,

PCIe x16 is OK for PCIe x4 cards. Just be sure it isn't already used by your graphic card.

Hi Laurent,

ok, no problem, because this motherboard has 4 PCIe x16 slots, apart from the one that is already being used by the graphics card. Thanks,
