Setting up Euphonix MC Control under HUI in Pyramix

I was just wondering if there was any way to do this as I currently cannot afford the Oasis key to enable Eucon.
I have tried adding Pyramix to Eucon preferences with HUI emulation enabled but I cant get the surface to engage no matter what
settings I use in the Controllers section in All settings.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Tom

The oasis key for the little euphonix is not particularly expensive, it would be a good investement for you.

Just be glad you dont have to buy the first class oasis 8O

AFAIK there's no way for a EuCon to work with a HUI emulation I'm afraid. It's hard enough to get the EuCon to work with the proper adapter in 64 bit, let alone without it! As the previous poster suggest, at least it's cheaper than it was by having a 2 tier license - you only need the cheaper one for the Euphonix series.

Note, if you do get the real key, for the moment you need to install BOTH the 32 and 64 bit drivers if you're on 64 bit OS. That plays havoc with other programs on my system, so still desperately hoping for a proper fix on this. Merging are aware of it, but there seems little urgency.

As a relatively new Pyramix user, i was looking for the solution to make my brand new MC Control work with Pyramix, and google points me here. What ? I have to purchase another software option (OASIS Key) to make it work with Pyramix ? Is it a joke ? I already bought the post pack...

The MC Control works perfectly with both Pro Tools 10 and Nuendo 5 here without further investments, i sure will not spend some more bucks to make it work with Pyramix Native. Come on, we're not talking Sytem-5 here, just Artist Serie toys...

Same goes for my Black Magic Design Intensity Pro which just does not work with Pyramix and its DS Player (it has DirectShow drivers)...

Sorry for this post, but i'm so disapointed :-( .

Come on, it is fairly inexpensive.

At least Merging lets you use non merging controllers.
ever try the euphonix with PT8 before they were bought by Avid?....HUI is all you get with non avid hardware, try automating sends with that resolution.

Paying for it is one thing... paying for it to do one job and it not doing it is another. That's currently the case with 64 bit. Apparently the problem is that Pyramix is still a 32 bit program, and can't access the 64 bit EuCon driver. You can install the 32 bit driver and that works... but having 2 drivers on your system will probably cause conflicts with any other DAWs you have. PT9 / 10 are both 32 bit, and do work with the 64 bit driver.

I heard that Merging were going to look again at this issue - I'd advise anyone with 64 bit OSs to contact them to say you need it working properly.

The ball in is the Euphonix camp, we've contacted them again this week. This is a WoW64 Driver issue.

Can you be more specific ? How much is it ?

HUI is better than nothing. Also Pro Tools is not a good example, as it has always been locked to its own controlers until the Euphonix buyout. You should have mentioned Cubase / Nuendo, Live, Logic, Digital Performer, Samplitude, SONAR, etc.

Ricardo, sorry but i don't understand why EuCon works with Pro Tools 10 (32 bit) and not Pyramix Native, this WoW64 thing is way too complicated for me as a simple user. I just see my Pro Tools 10 and Nuendo 5.5 (both 32/64bit) work pefectly with the MC Control, for free.

Guy, thanks for the driver infos, even if it's apparently bad news...
As you said, i'll also buy the option for MC support if i really have too, i'm just fed up to have to pay everytime for anything, as a honest user that bought every piece of software i'm using (i have like 5 differents dongles on the USB hub, for Pro-Convert, Soundminer, Nuendo, iLok, Pyramix, etc. this is ridiculous).

It seems i'll also have to wait for the Black Magic video card support (i'll mention that even Pro Tools 10 doesn't support it, but i've been told by Avid that it will soon be available under Windows 7). Nuendo is no problem with it though (OS X or Windows 7).

I used to like the Merging openess at the beginning, but apparently times have changed. Too bad...

Thanks Ricardo - I hope that you'd keep the pressure up. Often in these situations I hear one manufacturer blaming another, and us customers never really can tell of course... all we know is that it doesn't work. In this particular case, we can all see that 32 bit Pro Tools on 64 bit Win 7 DOES work, so surely it's not an unresolveable problem. There was a similar but different situation with Cakewalk last year, at one point I found myself mediating between them and Avid... it was fairly absurd. Eventually it got resolved.

At least with Cakewalk, EuCon integration was a secondary concern. With Merging, customers have paid for a product to do one single job it currently isn't doing, and therefore they need to do all they can to make it work ASAP. If that means Merging can do nothing more than making a phone call a week to Avid / Euphonix, then so be it... so often it feels like someone raises something, then it's only 3 months later it gets chased up.
