Pyramix 7 Sync options

Postby Nikolai » Mon Jan 03, 2011 16:31

We are about to use an insane amount of money to upgrade to pyramix 7 later 8.
So we are asked why? Whats new? New timeline? Oh. Nice, so I'm looking for features where our users would say "Yes FINALY"
One feature we would really like is a “Never change sync” check box in the options view.
Here is the deal: You work on a system in studio A that has sync via AES and then you want to open the projects in Studio B that has sync via WordClock now you need to go in to options and change the sync settings each time you change system.
If you forget to do this, it switches to internal and you get sync issues.
So could we have some way of saying Studio A should always sync on AES, what ever the project was saved on and Studio B should never switch from WordClock?

Also when you drag and drop a file in to Pyramix, could it please copy that file to the projects audio folder and convert it to the file format specified in the project settings.?
Hope you would consider these features

agreed - IMO sync options should be system-based, NOT project-based. it has always confounded me as to why Pyramix would carry sync settings from one system to another. timecode makes sense, but not the clock source. you should post this in the suggestions forum too!

IMO I think it should be a user defined setting. In some situations, I might be dragging from a specific folder and want the files to stay there and on the same format. But I agree that an option should be available that may suit what Nikolai is asking.

As an improved workflow, I also think that video files could also be dragged to the timeline, thus creating a video track and extracting the audio when doing so. The same as when using Import Video. The problem here would be that certain video files would need to be converted to a format that DS video player could read for users that do not have VCube.
Best regards,

Paulo M

Hi guys

what about this:

the sync settings would be System based (W/C ref / Video etc)

the samplerate and bitdepth would be project based. if loading a project which has a different sample rate and bitdepth to what is currently set (by deafult or by the previous project opened) the system would flag up a warning which would say that you are changing samplerate bit depth etc and you should change your external devices accordingly.

let me know what you think:-)

Cheers

Hi Johan,

I think that you'll find that most people agree (I sure do!) with having the sync settings as you suggest.

That would be a perfect solution and the only logical way if you ask me :D

Well, W/C Ref, Video AND internal. Then if there is a sync mismatch between the project, and the internal or external sample rate, the system should show an alert box upon opening the project.
