Anyone running Pyramix on Windows 7 64 bit?

Hello all,

Is anyone out there successfully running Pyramix (v6) on a 64 bit version of Windows 7?

I know that Pyramix is currently a 32 bit program, but I understand that Windows 7 should run 32 bit programs as if it were a 32 bit system. I also understand that I will need a 64 bit driver for any hardwear (ie soundcard). Is there any reason therefore that, in theory at least, this shouldn't be possible?

You might well ask why I would even want to attempt this potential headache and the answer is this. I'm attempting to set up an M Audio lightbridge on my MBP running bootcamp XP sp3 and get a "code 10" error when installing the driver. The problem involves the firewire chip (surprise surprise!) even though I am using a Lindy firewire hub with TI chipset. It would appear there is a workaround though, which involves taking a newer firewire driver from a version of Vista and using it to replace the XP firewire driver. I don't have Vista and don't want it either. However it does appear that Windows 7 is a far better system than Vista and worth upgrading to sometime. I'm not so keen on buying a 32 bit version of Windows only to want a 64 bit system in a year as 64 bit is where it's all going (even Pyramix in a year or so we hope??) Anyway, I wondered if I might be able to future proof myself a bit and get a 64 bit version of Windows 7 and thereby updating the firewire driver in the process.

This is all, by the way, for a backup Pyramix system and hence why I'm happy to have a mess around it with. Even I'm not silly enough to do this to my main machine!

Any thoughts appreciated.

Will

The pyramix installer will not install onto a 64bit os.
