Expanding this conversation a little, I would begin to take a long hard look at Horus. Our unit here is working with Ravenna ASIO at 64/32/16 channels the same as a single MADI connection and it works fine on an elderly Macbook (not Pro) dualcore running 7.1.10 native.
Add to the conversation that for $2000 per card you get 8 channels of remote Mic Preamp and converters that will eventually do up to DSD256 (192k currently)along with 24 channels of 192k AES and dual MADI on the frame and no need for anything but a cheap piece of Cat6 for a snake..... It deserves a long hard look.
I'm not a spokes person, just a (marginally) happy user. We like it so much that we're unloading a rack of 32 Grace preamps and replacing it with a single Horus.
As always YMMV.
All the best,
Mark

Good and versatile. The simplicity of the ethernet connection is great. But in my view, Merging should also consider small versions of it, to cover those users that may not need the full I/O. In simple terms, the replacements of Mykerinos cards:

Dotec is coming out with a USB/madi/ADAT box. They only seem to have 32IO to USB at 1FS, but it is available in optical madi (probably coax optional)

Anyone already tested these brand new toys by RME?

http://www.rme-audio.de/en_index_musikmesse_2013.php

The MADIface USB is a USB2.0<->MADI adaptor with a very competitive price of 900 EUR incl. VAT... I wonder if it really works reliable in a live recording situation with a full MADI stream to PMX native...

Would be great!

I'm a little late on this post, I own interface ubmadi DiGiCo, I use it with my m SD9 console live, or to do the sound check or to make a live recording of the concert. Although it is limited to 48k, but overall is very reliable with a native Pyramix system, I have tested up to 32 tracks, no error no default, fast and very reliable way, the result is very multi-usable.

The RME madiface usb works perfectly.
64 channels over usb 2.0, RME reliability..
