Hi everybody,
this is my first post here, and hope the question I am asking is not too clumsy or obvious:): Can I record in DSD with a laptop with Pyramix Native, and a Horus (with the needed A/D card) through ethernet connection? Would it be as simple as using the proper Horus driver, or am I missing something?
Thanks in advance!
Gonzalo

Welcome!
Please see Dominique's post (Dec. 10, 2012) in this thread:

The short answer is 'no'; you need a MassCore key to go along with Pyramix and the Horus for full DSD/DXD capability.

Graemme

Re: Pyramix Native, Horus and DSD
I think the real question here is do you need a Masscore key or a Native Mastering key.

On the other hand, Pyramix Native is not (yet) able to either Record, Render or Mix-down DSD content. It can only play it back and edit it. However a 176.4 PCM Mix-down can be performed on DSD timelines.
So, for now, only Pyramix MassCore with Mykerinos and soon Horus is designed for a full and complete support of DSD production including Recording, Editing, Mixing and Generating CDs and Edited Masters of DSD content.
However, since version 7.1 Pyramix Native can be a nice secondary DSD editing station with PCM 176.4 monitoring, the final DSD Mix-down/Edited Master Generation needing to be performed on a MassCore based system.
I hope this answers all your questions.
Cheers,
Dominique

Re: Pyramix Native, Horus and DSD
Last week, March 9, 2013, I was informed by Mytek that soon the Pyramix native will record DSD. This would be using the Mytek 8X192 DSD a/d converter. Mytek told me that this would soon be a new option for recording DSD with Pyramix Native on a laptop.
Can you please comment on this and what do I need to accomplish this DSD recording?

Re: Pyramix Native, Horus and DSD
Thank you for the referral-yes, I have read the current news about Pyramix Native only playing back dsd. Michal at Mytek informed me that a brand new development will be announced soon whereby Pyramix Native will record and playback and edit dsd recordings done through Mytek 8X192 dsd a/d converter and Mytek 192 dsd d/a converter.
So I will stand by to know more as either party announces some news.
