Drum replacement not possible in V7?

Postby Rainbow Warrior » Sat Oct 08, 2011 00:33

Hi all,

So i just tried to install Steven Slate's Trigger which comes with Kontakt player 4 to load the samples. The only problem that i overlooked is that Kontakt is a VSTi, recognized as a synthesizer category VST that cannot be used according to the VST Scanner.

Does anybody use drum replacement software in Pyramix, is it technically possible?

Not directly, no.

This is one of the reasons that the 'ASIO Bridge' was invented; a separate app that runs VSTi can have it's ASIO outputs routed into Pyramix. (PMX can also send audio over ASIO to another ASIO-capable app.)

See page 10-224 of the user manual.

Hi Graemme,

I set the bridge to ASIO but then i read about physical outputs, should this work for Native also. I tried to get the VST scanner to see the plugin but it's not accepted, is this needed for the bridge to work?

The VSTi must be running on another application. That application's I/O are then routed to/from Pyramix via the ASIO bridge.

You'll also need some way of controlling the transports of both Pyramix and the other app.

I setup the bridge in setup.
Pyramix can input and output bridge, but the other daw does not show up with bridge.
What am I doing wrong?

I bought Pro Tools Native for projects like this. It probably can be realized in Pyramix but i think Pro Tools' featureset is more suitable for modern pop and rock productions and it also has the sidechain structure and standard Rewire implementation that i missed in Pyramix Native. I still prefer Pyramix' sound for acoustic and classical work though.

Hi all,

PLEASE READ THIS!!!!

Due to a lack of research beforehand i ordered Steven Slate Drums, this is not the same as Trigger! SSD is a VSTi, a Kontakt library from Native Instruments to use with V-Drums or a keyboard.

Trigger is a VST plugin for the actual drum replacement that also uses his samples but in a separate format (TCi) and acts as a normal VST plugin in Pyramix 7 Native!

My apologies for the misinformation,

Daniel
