Hi Hanne,
do you have DS video player(advanced video support) option on your machine? If so, open Virtual Transport, launch DS video player, right click and open your file.Note that certain mpeg files might no play properly, unless you have the proper codecs installed in windows.

Re: mpeg video in pyramix
Hello,
Even though I have had many good experiences while working with Pyramix, I seem to have the same kind of problem.
I've been struggling with the Virtual Transport option for quite a while now.
For some reason when I enable the Virtual Transport Communication in 'Settings -> All Settings -> Remote Control', apply
and save the settings, the program tells me 'No Virtual Transport Server found. Please connect to the VT in All Settings ->
Remote Control -> Virtual Transport' after I try to import a video file in Virtual Transport Video Player. And when I go
back to those settings I see the 'Virtual Transport Communication' button not enabled. I believe this must be a bug. Every
time I enable it, it goes back to the original 'not abled' position.
Of course I have searched the forum, but without results. I was hoping you might be able to assist me on this one.

Hi Alexander,
A couple of things to take into consideration when using VT assuming you run a PMX-system with a standalone VT and a Direct Show Video Player. (Situation is quite different when working with VCube):
You might need to perform a clean-install when the VT does not correspond to the PMX version on your system. If you need any assistance, I am around the block
A couple of things to take into consideration when using VT assuming you run a PMX-system with a standalone VT and a Direct Show Video Player. (Situation is quite different when working with VCube):
- Assure you have the right Version VT, that corresponds to the proper PMX version.
- Make sure VT starts up when ticking Enable Virtual communication from Settings/Remote control.
- If you dont use VT in a network, make sure you have Enable Network set to off, from the Net-Tab inside VT.
- Formats compatible with VT are MPEG-1 MJPEG, and AVI, with non-alien codecs.
You might need to perform a clean-install when the VT does not correspond to the PMX version on your system. If you need any assistance, I am around the block

Thank you so much for your information. I had mailed Jérémy Rodeschini and he send me the right version of VT!
It all works now.

Re: mpeg video in pyramix
anyone knows whats the quickest format?
we convert all our Pro-Tools compatible DV25 Quicktime movies in the AVI MJPEG-B format for Pyramix, but they take a while (about 30-60 secs for a 1-Hour clip) to import into the DS player.
thanks!

Hi,
Got the same "long importing" issue here with Mac/FCP -originated DV25 .avi files. The problem is that these files header have differences from "Regular" dv25 .avi files made on Windows-based platforms. Basicly if you make DV25/avi file on Win-based NLE-system you'll get momentary import!
Any comments from Merging?

Re: mpeg video in pyramix
Just my own findings regarding this.
It seems that AVI Type 2 files take forever to open and Type 1 open instantly. My experience is limited to DV codec files but I can imagine that the same goes for other codecs. There is a small app called DVDate that does conversion between Type 1 and 2.
I think the DS Player is brilliant in many ways but I wish for a Direct Show filter that would make it possible to play Quicktime films (post-production standard, ask Avid). Something like the MediaLooks filter would be brilliant.

Thats because Uncompressed Quicktime is coded on frame bases, whereas MPEG isn't!

DVDate works like a charm!! thanks you really made my day, now videos open instantly in DS Player!!

another question, if i try to open a video using the "Import" feature, it creates a video track, but it's always offline. anyone knows why?
