Re: Pyramix and Lynx AES16e problems

Have experienced that Lynx ASIO drivers can be a bit hit or miss.
One of the reasons why I bought the Mykerinos system in the first place
was due to massive dropouts on 4 channels of 24/96 using a Lynx Two card.
The future is Ethernet sound. :)

Re: Pyramix and Lynx AES16e problems

Had the exact same experience with AES16e. Upgraded to Hapi and the system has been rock solid after. Had sort of the same issues 10 years ago with a Lynx Two card. At that time I upgraded to Mykerinos (which just got upgraded to a second Hapi.) Maybe not that strange that software and hardware made...

Re: CD Image ticks/pops/artifacts

Thanks, Graemme! Agree on your thoughts, but it would be nice to know how it would react before the final SRC stage though. Guess we're all used to taking clipping at later conversion stages into consideration when setting the output ceiling, but for MFiT and other codecs we at least have real time ...

Re: CD Image ticks/pops/artifacts

Is this for sessions with sample rates over 44 kHz? If the master is clipping in its native sample rate (when not 44k), it would generate ticks/pops in any case when make the PMI, wouldn't it? Sorry if this is slightly off topic, but it would be great if Merging could make a way to put a safety on t...

Re: Supported high sample rate plugins

Thanks, Graemme! Added to the list.
Guess the other Pro plugs also work in DXD..?
Mainly use ProL and ProMB myself, but will check the other Pro plugs as soon as we get the AD/DA cards.

Curious to hear how Equilibrium acts in terms of CPU load!

Re: Ravenna cable run limitations

Thanks Mark! I've already ordered the CAT7 cable. Got a good price at Thomann (actually half the price compared to buying the Ravenna CAT5e cable locally). David J at Merging gave me this response: CAT7 cables should work fine, but we have only tested CAT5E and CAT6. Therefore we cannot guarantee 10...

Re: Ravenna cable run limitations

Looking at getting the 100m CAT7 version of the Cordial roll, but swapping out the connectors with something like these RJ45's: http://www.telegaertner.com/en/info/catalogue/datavoice/?IdTreeGroup=13278&IdProduct=15047 As Mark pointed out, a coupler or extension reduces the total range, so I'd r...

Re: Cordial Ravenna (rebranded CAT 5) or Cordial CAT 7 for H

Thanks, Andrew!

CAT7 is backward compatible and the Cordial CAT7 is rated for use with Dante, so it should work (on paper..?)
I also see Yamaha recommends CAT7 for longer cable runs for their gear.

Will continue on the existing discussion. Thanks for the link!

Cordial Ravenna (rebranded CAT 5) or Cordial CAT 7 for Hapi

Hi, Does anybody know the preferred CAT standard for the Horus/Hapi interface for long cable runs (75-100 meter)? Cordial has made a Ravenna version of their CAT 5e (just different jacket), but they also have a CAT 7 cable with better specs than the CAT5e. http://www.cordial.eu/en/news/73-ccat-5-rav...

Great! Thanks for the input! Adding to the list. Supported high sample rate plugins

Hi, Thought it would be nice with a list of high sample rate compatible plugins for mastering duties. (didn't find an existing one..) High sample rate plugins: Flux: all plugins - 384 kHz, up to 7.1 (8 channels) Exponential Audio: all plugins - 352.8kHz, up to 7.1 Merging: most of built in plugs in ...

Re: PC config / turnkey components

Thanks for all the helpful hints, guys! Tom; it's actually the first computer in ages I can't figure out why is acting slow. Thought we were done with the "how to optimize your windows xp" days. :) I'll pay BIOS a visit later today. Thanks for the tip! Bernhard; the i5 computer is running ...

Re: PC config / turnkey components

There is something wrong with that particular i5 computer. I have a comparable system and never white freeze screens etc. Also I have not yet run out of CPU power even with a lot of CPU hungry plugins. You should contact Merging and inquire about your particular configuration. Also go through the c...

PC config / turnkey components

Hi, I was wondering if there are any plans on upgrading the PC config page anytime soon? I'm currently working on two different systems: A) turnkey spec. i5-2400 computer (on DQ67SW) running on Windows 7 32bit with Mykerinos/Masscore (at the mastering studio i work) B) i7-2600 computer running on an...
