Horus General Questions

Postby Robertt » Wed Jun 10, 2020 15:12

Hi there guys.

I am brainstorming some setups for my new home studio, and I was trying to find an all in one solution that would give high quality AD/DA, digital outputs and lots of analog ins and outs. So I stumbled upon the Horus unit.

What I Want is to connect two summing mixers to the Horus. One is the Crane Song Egret which has 4 AES inputs, the other the SSL Sigma Delta, which has 32 analog inputs.

So I figured I could configure the HORUS to have 4 modules of line outs (from what I can see it already offers AES outs, so all good).

I have put together a schematic on paintbrush so you can have a look and understand what I wanna do. I know the analog input on the upper left does not exist (yet), but I Was hoping the merging technologies would come up with a module offering regular XLR mic/line inputs. Both the Egret and Sigma have XLR outs for the summed signal, so it would be better to have XLR ins on the HORUS instead of having to build DB25 to XLR cables, I hate doing that.

Another question is: to connect the HORUS to my computer so it will appear in my DAW, I just need to install one of these?

Or there is a better recommended option?

Can I also use this to connect HORUS to PC?

I already got a reply from support, it seems I don´t need any extra gear for connection, just need to connect the HORUS to ethernet and that is it. That is awesome.
